PhoebeMD: Medicine + Poetry was originally created in 2013 by Dr. Phoebe Chi as a personal medical poetry blog. Today, it serves as a platform for inspiring and informing readers through a combination of essential health information and the arts. While the earlier content on features original poetry penned by Dr. Chi herself, PhoebeMD: Medicine + Poetry now focuses on showcasing the talents of writers, bloggers, and authors all around the world. This includes a curated mix of informative health articles, inspiring health stories, and uplifting poetry—all aimed at encouraging and empowering the reader community.

About the Editor

Phoebe Chi

Phoebe Chi, MD, MPH is a physician-educator, author, and medical editor whose humanitarian efforts over the past two decades have spanned the regions of South America to that of Sub-Saharan Africa. She attended college at the University of Texas at Austin, received her medical training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and obtained her public health and global health degrees from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. With a focus on health promotion and disease prevention and management, Dr. Chi has developed chronic disease management programs for health systems across the nation aimed at reducing hospitalizations and enhancing the quality of life for those living with chronic conditions. She is the author of Being Empowered for a Healthy Heart: A personal guide to taking control of your health while living with chronic conditionsa poetry-infused health guide that has been praised as being the “Chicken Soup for the Body and Soul.”

Dr. Chi is the founder of Pendants for a Cause, a nonprofit organization that creates handcrafted sea glass jewelry for the purpose of raising funds to fight illness, provide care, and bring awareness to medically vulnerable populations around the world.

    I came across your blog today. I must say, its like walking into the Garden of Eden of written words; one is tempted to gobble it all in one go but there is so much to feed on. Withal, you find consolation

    Your establishments and achievements are very inspiring and admirable. I am going to follow you. Just like you I worked for 4-5 years in Indian hospitals as a medical officer in Internal Medicine department and pursued MPH. We share many career background similarities.   8. I’m glad to have been introduced to your blog and look forward to following you. Our daughter graduated from UNT, like you did, and is a molecular biologist/geneticist in Houston. And she has dogs – 3 now between her and her husband. ๐Ÿ™‚ I just noticed those similarities right away between you and my daughter. Your blog looks very interesting and beautiful!
